Our flock:
All of our birds come from different backgrounds and came to be part of our flock for different reasons. We have Gouldian Finches, Amazons, and Macaws. Some are mature adult birds, some are younger "teenagers", and some are just babies.
How we feed:
For our larger birds, Amazons & Macaws, we provide fresh food 2 times per day, EVERY DAY! Mornings they are fed a mixture of brown rice, cooked dry bean mix, fresh and frozen veggies (corn, peas, green beans, sweet potatoes, carrots, etc), and in the evenings they are given a fresh fruit and fresh veggie bowl (papaya is a favorite!). NO SEED MIXES are ever provided to our large birds. It's not healthy for them, and can cause illness and diseases. Macaws are given various nuts each day, as they require higher fat than Amazons. The Amazons are given nuts as well, but only in moderation, and very few peanuts, mostly almonds & hazelnuts. Their favorite treat is dried papaya.
The finches are provided a nutritious seed diet that has higher content of nutritious seeds, rather than things like millet as the main ingredient. They are given egg food periodically, which is hard boiled egg (shell included), shredded carrots, broccoli, and sometimes we add some sesame seeds and flax seeds. Egg food is increased during their breeding time due to need for increased calcium and protein as well as providing plenty of soft food for nestlings to be fed by parents.
The large birds are provided clean, fresh pellet at all times, as well as clean, fresh water. We do not give them tap water or bottled water, we provide our own filtered water (through reverse osmosis), which is then dosed with a compound that adds back vital minerals that are removed during the RO process.

Our philosphy:
All of our birds are part of our family, and are not considered "breeders". While we do allow some to breed, we do not consider ourselves to be a "breeder facility". We do not have a large flock, we allow pairs to breed that were bonded as a pair when they came to live with us. We do not allow our adults to breed continually and over-work themselves. Nature tells them to reproduce, they have a mate, and therefore, we allow them to do so under close supervision for their health and well-being.
Our adult pairs are part of our family. They receive daily interaction even during their breeding times, and we give them as much physical contact as they will allow (some are not tame!). They are our pets, not our business. We never plan to sell or trade ANY of our adults, once they come to live with us, this is their permanent home...PERIOD!
